Record Grading Guide

Mint – New or no defects at all.


Very Good – Record shows signs of being used and can include surface scratches but any damage does not distract away from the overall listening experience. Older records will have surface noise and crackling but wherever possible we will say in the description.

The cover, inner sleeve, and any posters etc. may have slight wear, creasing, tears, press marks and rubbing.

Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover will still be original.

                          


Good – Record has been played a lot but the overall listening experience is not majorly affected. The vinyl can have damage such as scratches or blemishes but does not jump or skip. Older records will have surface noise and crackling but wherever possible will say in the description.

Normal wear and tear of the cover, inner sleeve and any other items is expected. This can include small damage to edges, small stains, creasing press marks and rubbing. 

Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover will still be original.

                                  


Medium – Record has been played a lot and is noticeable when listening. Expect surface scratches, back ground noise, clicks etc. some distortion to the sound may happen. There may be jumping and skipping but this will be at a minimum. It will be on no more than one track per side and will be in the description. Older records will have surface noise and crackling but wherever possible will say in the description.

 The cover can have normal wear and tear from being used including damaged to edges, press marks or rubbing.

Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover will still be original.

                                   


Low – Record has been used that much that the sound quality is poor with distortion, scratches and damage to vinyl. Older records will have surface noise and crackling but wherever possible will say in the description. The overall experience will be poor.

Cover, inner sleeve, posters etc. will have damage such as tears, splits, creasing, discolouration and stains.

Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover will still be original.


There may be occasions where the record falls between two categories, in that case this will be indicated by either a + or a -.
