Vinyl Grading Guide

How we grade every record β€” so you know exactly what you're buying.

Every record we list is visually inspected and assessed before we assign a grade. We describe each record's condition clearly and honestly in the listing β€” if there's something worth noting, we'll say so. Where a record falls between two categories we'll indicate this with a + or βˆ’.

Mint

Mint β€” New, or no defects at all

The record is new or shows absolutely no defects. The sleeve and all inserts are in perfect condition.

Very Good

Very Good β€” Shows signs of use

The Record

Shows signs of being used and can include surface scratches, but any damage does not distract from the overall listening experience. Older records will have surface noise and crackling β€” wherever possible we'll say so in the description.

The Sleeve & Inserts

The cover, inner sleeve, and any posters etc. may have slight wear, creasing, tears, press marks and rubbing. Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover remains original.

Good

Good β€” Well played, still enjoyable

The Record

The record has been played a lot but the overall listening experience is not majorly affected. The vinyl can have damage such as scratches or blemishes but does not jump or skip. Older records will have surface noise and crackling β€” wherever possible we'll say so in the description.

The Sleeve & Inserts

Normal wear and tear of the cover, inner sleeve and any other items is expected. This can include small damage to edges, small stains, creasing, press marks and rubbing. Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover remains original.

Medium

Medium β€” Wear is noticeable when listening

The Record

The record has been played a lot and this is noticeable when listening. Expect surface scratches, background noise, clicks, and some distortion to the sound. There may be jumping and skipping but this will be minimal β€” no more than one track per side β€” and will always be noted in the description. Older records will have surface noise and crackling β€” wherever possible we'll say so in the description.

The Sleeve & Inserts

The cover can have normal wear and tear from use, including damage to edges, press marks or rubbing. Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover remains original.

Low

Low β€” Heavy use, poor sound quality

The Record

The record has been used heavily and sound quality is poor, with distortion, scratches and damage to the vinyl. Older records will have surface noise and crackling β€” wherever possible we'll say so in the description. The overall experience will be poor.

The Sleeve & Inserts

Cover, inner sleeve, posters etc. will have damage such as tears, splits, creasing, discolouration and stains. Any unstuck glued edges will be left so the cover remains original.
